Emperor's College of Traditional Oriental Medicine has entered into a unique agreement with the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA). As of January, interns and supervisors from Emperor's Santa Monica clinic will begin serving students at UCLA's Arthur Ashe Student Health and Wellness Center. Emperor's College is the first school of Oriental medicine in the state to provide acupuncture treatment within a UC-affiliated student health facility.
We are continually looking for innovative ways to bring our ancient medicine into modern times," said David Lee, Emperor's chief executive officer. "By affiliating ourselves with the finest in Western health care facilities, we will be doing a great service to the patients, the students, and ultimately, the medicine. The public has demanded a bridge be created between Eastern and Western modalities and doctors, and we have begun to lay the building blocks."
Interns and supervisors from Emperor's also provide treatment for patients at the Los Angeles Free Clinic, Daniel Freeman Hospital in Marina Del Rey, and Cedar-Sinai Hospital in West Hollywood.
PCOM Expands to Illinois
The Illinois Board of Higher Education has approved the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine's request to open a branch campus in Chicago, joining the college's existing campuses in San Diego and New York. The occasion marks the first time a program of graduate study in acupuncture and Oriental medicine has been approved in the state of Illinois.
Once the Chicago campus has been established, Pacific College will operate a low-cost clinic open to the public as part of its internship program. The college also plans to provide off-site internships at clinics and hospitals throughout the Chicago area. For more information, visit the college's website at www.ormed.edu.
