The American Association of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (AAAOM) will be traveling "From Ancient Medicine to New Horizons" with its upcoming Expo 2010. The event will be held April 8-11, at the Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort in Santa Ana Pueblo, NM not far from Albuquerque. Some featured events will include an American Board of Oriental Reproductive Medicine (ABORM) Certification exam, held Thurs., April 8, and a pre-conference master's course, "Facial Acupuncture Parts I & II," also on April 8, taught by Jeong-Hwa Song, OMD. Sat., April 10 will feature an evening banquet with Michael Taromina as the keynote speaker.
There will be numerous speakers throughout the conference, including Acupuncture Today contributors Joe Chang. MAOM, Dipl. OM. LAc ("Case Studies on the Applications of Acupuncture in a Military Setting") and Will Morris, PhD, DAOM, LAc ("Integrating Shang han Lun and Western Physiology"), and AT columnists John Chen, LAc, DOM, PharmD, PhD ("Herbal Alternatives to Drugs") and Marlene Merritt, DOM, LAc, ACN ("Treating Modern Infertility: A Nutritional Approach").
Other featured speakers include David Miller, MD, FAAP, MSTOM, LAc, Dipl. OM ("When Shen Encounters Jing: Exploring Pediatrics from Eastern and Western Perspective"), Miki Shima, OMD, LAc ("A Personal Exposition on the Eight Extraordinary Vessels by Li Shi-Zhen: Alchemy, Acupuncture, and Herbal Medicine") and Dana L. Price, DOM, LAc, Dipl. OM, ABORM ("Advanced Topics in Infertility: Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome and Ovarian Hyperstimulation Syndrome"). In addition, there will be a variety of vendors offering everything from needles to herbs to books.
Regular rates for the full weekend are $600 for members and $650 for nonmembers. Student AAAOM members can attend the entire weekend of the conference for a special discounted rate of $99.
Up to 43 CEUs may be earned at the conference. All attendees must sign in and out of the session in order to obtain full CEU credits.

Whether or not an MRI is available to provide definitive knowledge of a structural issue, acupuncture can be an effective treatment for low back pain.
