Consequences for HIPAA violations can often be quite harsh. If someone has breached the HIPAA privacy regulations – even without any malicious intent, civil penalties are applicable: $100 per violation for unawareness, a minimum of $1,000 for reasonable cause, a minimum of $10,000 if willful neglect is present and then rectified, and finally, a minimum of $50,000 for individuals who act with willful neglect and ignore the issue.

Mission Statement
The mission of the Arizona School of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine is to prepare competent practitioners of acupuncture and Oriental medicine --men and women of high character and good will -- who, by virtue of their work and presence, will lead the AOM profession to be valued, accepted and trusted as efficacious health care.
History
The Arizona School of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine was the first AOM school to be established in Arizona. It is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. It was granted candidate status by the commission in May 2000 and was accredited in November 2003.
Programs Offered
The Arizona School of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine offers three programs: the Master in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (MAcOM), the Master in Acupuncture (MAc), and a certifcate in Asian bodywork therapy/tuina (ABT certification).
The Master in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine program is an intensive, comprehensive program that completes four academic years in 36 calendar months. Students are in the classroom 41 weeks a year, and 47 weeks in clinic. The program is a total of 2,766 hours.
The Master in Acupuncture program uses the same curriculum as the Master in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine program, except that courses in clinic and Chinese herbology are not included. The program comprises 2,330 hours.
The Asian bodywork therapy/tuina program provides entry-level competence in tuina. Graduates of the certificate program receive a dipoma entitled: "Certificate in Asian Bodywork Therapy/Tuina." The ABT certification is included in both master programs.
