The ancient Romans built such an excellent system of highways and bridges throughout their empire that it led to the popular saying, "All roads lead to Rome." This May, all roads - at least for the acupuncture and Oriental medicine community - will lead to Keystone, Colo., the location of the 13th Annual Conference of the National Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine Alliance.
Styled as a "family reunion" for the community, the Alliance's conference promises something for everyone. After much planning, the Alliance selected the Keystone Resort as the site of this year's meeting. The location guarantees a maximum of tranquility and natural beauty, while providing all of the amenities required to make the conference both a time for learning and a welcome respite.
This year's meeting features a rich array of classes, beginning with pre-conference intensive courses from Matthew Bauer and James McCormick. Course offerings include a wide variety of topics and speakers, covering such diverse areas as how to utilize insurance and building a practice to addressing mental disorders and techniques for establishing rapport with patients. In place of the traditional exhibit hall, this year's event will feature a more intimate "all-conference living room." With a small number of selected exhibitors spaced around the edge of the room, the center features comfortable furniture, tables and chairs, and all of the amenities an attendee would need to sit down and catch up on notes from the last session, or to spend a few minutes renewing old friendships and catching up on the latest news. The goal of the new design is to provide the perfect setting for relaxing, connecting, or just hanging out, right in the center of the action.

The Oregon College of Oriental Medicine (OCOM) has announced it is closing after 41 years. Pending accreditor approval, OCOM will cease offering classes after September (fourth-year OCOM students graduate Aug. 26). All current / incoming OCOM students have the option of continuing their education at the National University of Natural Medicine or Five Branches University, or transferring to another school altogether.

The end of cancer treatment does not necessarily signal a return to good health.
