People today want convenience, whether it be from their bank, credit card, favorite retail store, or restaurant. They demand it from the companies who hold their loyalty, including their health care providers (you). They don’t want to call and possibly be put on hold, and they want to use an app or schedule an appointment on your website. Here are three reasons your practice can gain by switching to online appointment scheduling.
SIO to Hold Second Annual Conference in San Diego
The Society for Integrative Oncology will hold its second international conference this November at the Manchester Grand Hyatt Hotel in San Diego, California. Held in collaboration with Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, and other leading health organizations, the meeting is designed to offer health care providers the latest information on the use of integrative medicine in the treatment of cancer.
The Society is a non-profit, multidisciplinary organization of professionals dedicated to studying and facilitating the cancer treatment and recovery process through the use of integrated complementary therapies. Its overlying mission is to educate oncology professionals, patients, caregivers and other interested parties about state-of-the-art integrative therapies, including their scientific validity, clinical benefits, toxicities, and limitations. Several licensed acupuncturists currently belong to the organization's scientific committee, including Kabba Anand, Joseph Chiang, Lixing Huang, and Leanna Standish.
This year's conference features a keynote address by Dr. Michael Baum, a visiting professor of medical humanities at the University College of London. The conference will also include a satellite workshop titled "Acupuncture in Oncology Practice and Research." Other presentations currently in development include "Acupuncture for Symptom Management," "Nutritional and Micronutrient Approaches," and "Mind-Body Medicine in Cancer."
Abstracts are currently being accepted for the conference, with a final submission deadline of July 22. Abstracts may be submitted on a variety of topics, including:
